I’ve been re-reading old writing,
Thank god I keep journals.
Even as sporadically as it is.
I’ve been totally busy this past week after a couple of weeks of
well, not being busy at all.
I’ll just start with Tuesday–
It was crazy mad snowing when I woke up.
Had to be careful sliding down Jordan’s driveway.
He and his dad had already witnessed me wiping out.
Why do I refuse to wear weather appropriate shoes?
Truth is, I was probably only half awake.
Wait, I was half asleep because it was Election Day, SOME PEOPLE
didn’t have school so we were up all night.
It kept snowing. FSU refused to cancel appropriately.
I eventually just left– then they cancelled.
Of course, I didn’t go straight home. We met up for sushi
and then I stopped to get my oil changed.
Random thing to do in a snow and ice storm, I realize.
It was my papa’s birthday, so we went out to eat at Clancy’s,
where there is now a sandwich with our name and a crazy
photo from the early seventies of my dad playing in a band
opening for ZZ Top. Tell me my life is not this weird, please.
Wednesday, snow or no, I was determined to get to Morgantown.
We lost show tickets last year on the same day due to snow,
so not again. Ooooh and I got my hair re-cut that morning–
this shorter hair business requires maintenance . . .
Anyway we left extra early and took it slow. But we did make it
pretty easily. Rounds to Sam’s Club, Target, Barnes and Noble, etc.
Ate Panera. Thank the gods for Panera Bread. It had been waaaaay too long.
We saw the tour of Chicago. And it was good. More entertaining to me somehow
than before, even on Broadway. Josh and I concluded that proximity played some
part in that . . . our seats were probably the best we’ve had in that theatre.
And we saw MK and Stasia which was fun. We got on the road pretty quickly
to beat the deep freeze. I was cautious and we just barely made it back
to meet Jordan at midnight to celebrate his birthday.
At Denny’s, of course. Punctuated, as usual, by Wal Mart.
Slept. He went to school and work. I slept. lol.
But his birthday also happens to be Valentine’s Day. He would love that
I mention Valentine’s Day as a side not to his birthday, which is usually not the case.
But I did meet Kevin for lunch at El Canelo. Lunch fajitas are cheap and yummy.
We were supposed to meet a group for a birthday dinner, but at some point
it became just us. So Jordan and I fought our way through the Valentine crowd
at D’Atri’s. I, as is typical, had soup and salad. It’s my new default meal.
Then we had cake later at the restaurant. It was a strange smattering of people. lol.
Ummm. I think I went home to sleep. Yea, I was going to go out to Dante’s, but needed rest
to drive the next day. We inadvertently passed Rachel and Josh changing her flat tire . . .
Friday was NUTSO. I had logistical hell getting a proposal in for work after getting
behind an accident on 220. It’s not worth rehashing the details.
Oh my. I told you my week was loooong.
To be continued.
